Garry made it 6-straight wins with the world’s number one MMA promotion after a meticulous display of striking against the American at the TD Garden.

The dominant unanimous decision victory at UFC 292 took ‘The Futures’ record to 13-0 in his pro career.

The 25-year-old welterweight star picked Magny apart from start to finish to earn a (30-26, 30-26, 30-24) as he called out Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

He said: “This breaks me into the UFC top 10. I’m 25 years of age and I’m telling you now I need to prove myself as the best striker that this division has ever seen.

“And, Joe. I think you can guess where I’m going here. To be the best striker in the world you need to beat the best strikers.

“And everybody has Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson on that list so give me Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson whenever, wherever, for five rounds.

“I will prove to you I am the new generation of striker in the world.”

But surprisingly to many the Irish MMA star has only jumped two spots in the promotion’s official rankings.

He has jumped from #13 to number 11 on the welterweight ladder in this morning’s updated list.

Speaking in January, Garry spoke of the reasons behind his desire to fight the former UFC 170lbs title challenger.

Many have called for the UFC to host a show a return show in the Dublin after a recent number of Irish additions to their roster.

There are currently five fighters from the island of Ireland on the UFC roster at the moment, with others on the cusp of being signed, such as Paul Hughes.

Rhys McKee and Caolan Loughran fight on the upcoming UFC Paris card in just under two weeks time.

UFC have not had a show in the Irish capital since 2015, a headline bout between Darren Till and Robert Whittaker was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
